Preserving excel features as component

I have inserted an excel component into a Mathcad worksheet. I have had issues preserving some of the excel features that were originally used. In one column, I used a data validation list to create a drop-down menu to control the inputs; however, once I leave the component and go back to the Mathcad workseet, the cell resets the data validation to allow any input instead of just the list. Is there a way to preserve the drop-down menu feature in the excel component?
