"save as" causes Mathcad crash

Hello,

the last days  I was trying to bring some prior work to test with Prime (The problems are filling other treads). I had to uninstall Mathcad 14 and then re-register ocx for Mathcad 15 - only to tell you the history before the problem began.

Then - in order to test parallelisation into multiple FPU - I tried to run two instances of mathcad at the same time, using the same work sheet, well after this the tragedy began.

Every time I'm trying to save the sheet under another name, Mathcad crashes...

Also when tyring to open a sheet Mathcad crashes. Douple cclicking works however.

any ideas how to heal that?

- is this a license problem

- is there some corrupted trash in the directory

- other..

I tried to reinstall on a SSD but the original path cannot be altered even when directing Mathcad installation to the new one, so I will try to move it..

many thanks

I use mathcad 15 M020 to quest the limitation of:

(1+2^n+3^n)^(1/n), n-->infinity

and the answer should be 3, but in mathcad it seem can not calculate it.

and I try it on the Prime M010, false too.

Why? and How should I solve this problem?

My pc system is Win7 ultimate.

Hello,

Please see the attached MathCad 15 worksheet.

I am trying to extract the data for Figs. 8, 9, 10(a) and 10(b). Y won't let me to do this.

Could anyone help and let me know the way I can extract the data for the graphs?

I am transferring data to EXCEL to plot more aesthetics looking graphs.

In the worksheet, I have indicated the graphs and the data associated with them.

Thank you so much,

Mathcad Prime - very slow

I use Mathcad 15.0 to do analysis of multichannel files.  The files are fairly large (ie. 10 MB text files).

Unfortunately I encountered a bug in Mathcad 15.0 memory management that cause Mathcad to crash everytime I open a file due to the 32 bit limitations of how Mathcad was designed.  The bug has been logged however PTC indicated that Prime should be able to fix it.  So I've eagerly anticipate Prime 2.0.    I just installed it and have tried to work with.

Unfortunately, from what I can tell Mathcad Prime is very inefficient at file manipulation and processing large data sets.  My data import wizards were covered to READTEXT, and it took Prime 5 minutes to load the file.  The same file which takes less than 30 seconds in Mathcad 15.0 to load and display.  I then wasn't able to scroll on the screen for additional 4 minutes.

I've holding off migrating our company to Diadem because of the learning curve to custom program and since Prime was approaching  but this Prime is completely unwieldy.  At least with Mathcad 15.0 I could manage complete the data analysis and just save often.

Is there anything I'm missing that would make Prime faster?

Express yourself mathematically to your love this week for Valentine’s Day!  Sure, you could say “I heart you” (or, I < 3 u) – but we know you can do better than that!  C’mon – you’re all PTC Mathcad power users

Reply to this thread with a screenshot of your creation (feel free to post the original PTC Mathcad file, too, but a screenshot is the minimum for a valid entry, so that all members across the PTC Community can see).*  For even broader visibility, be sure to tag your submission with Valentines_math

We can’t wait to see your creative designs!  Each entry will automatically be entered into a random drawing for a “PTC Fan Pack” (PTC backpack, t-shirt, water bottle, notebook, pen and few other goodies)

* Designs need to be submitted by February 14th 5:00 PM EST to be entered in the drawing.  If you have specific questions about the design, comment on this thread or send me a message

Thanks everyone!

Special thanks and credit to PTC Community member and hero Roger Mansfield for the original inspiration (see it here:  http://communities.ptc.com/message/158606)

What is Mathcad Express?

Mathcad Express is here! So what is it?

Mathcad Express is a free version of Mathcad that allows any user to utilize some selected features of Mathcad Prime 2.0, for an unlimited time. Mathcad Express gives you the ability to spend more time solving engineering problems, and less time programming, documenting, reporting and verifying their solutions. Mathcad Express was designed to be a powerful analysis tool – it is easy to learn and easy to use.

How does it work?

Mathcad Express does include the full capabilities of Mathcad Prime 2.0 for 30 days, for free. After the 30 day period has ended, you may continue to use the limited functionality of Mathcad Express as long as you like -- the Mathcad Express license will never expire. But there are some differences beyond functionality. You can expect to see in-product messages with information on selected features, training, tips and tricks, and easy ways to purchase the full commercial product. You will also see specific “Mathcad Express” headers and watermarks on worksheets. Should you decide to upgrade to the full product, you will receive the full breadth of Mathcad capabilities and you can eliminate in-product advertising and watermarks.

What’s next?

PTC is committed to delivering the best products to its customers, and it continues to invest in Mathcad. Mathcad Express is a licensing option, requiring minimal R&D resources, but allowing the Mathcad team to include a number of bug fixes and streamline the licensing process – both of which will benefit Maintenance Customers of Mathcad who are planning on upgrading to the latest release. Mathcad Prime 3.0 is scheduled for release in 2013 and will include the following features:

  • Templates
  • Math formatting
  • Embedded math in text
  • New numeric functionality

As always, we welcome your questions and comments. Check out the Mathcad product page at PTC.com to download Mathcad Express!

3.14 Pi Day

In honor of Pi Day 2013 (3.14.2013),  I am re-posting my pi calculator worksheet.

As useless as you might think this is, note that it shows methods for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers to a very large precision.

Be sure to turn on the "Debugger Tool" to see it slowly grind away at the solution to whatever precision you enter at the beginning of the worksheet.  Hit Ctrl-F9 to start the fun!

And stay up until 1:59:26.5 AM just to show your true geekiness in all its glory.

Electronic boards design: assessment of the component tolerances

I'm using Mathcad prime 2.0 (express version) but the question can be solved using premium version.
I would use Matcad to study the effect of the tolerance of the components I choose on the electronic circuits that I projected:
suppose, for example, you have a resistive divider formed by R1 and R2 powered from Vcc ..
we know that the voltage of R2 is:
f(Vcc, R1, R2): = (Vcc / (R1 + R2)) * R2

I want to ask Matcad which values (maximum and minimum) can f() assume if
R1 has a nominal value of 1000, with a tolerance of 1% (therefore can have a value from 990 to 1010)
R2 has a nominal value of 2000, with a tolerance of 1% (therefore can have a value from 1980 to 2020)
The right way would be to use the function minimize () but I can not figure out how to properly set up the command

Thank you

Can anyone figure this out?

Can anyone figure out why mathcad units aren't working correctly in the attached screenshot? I run the exact same equations the only difference is that I display (not define) the results differently. This then affects the following equations units, which it shouldn't unless I'm missing something.

MathCAD -Transfering a License Server from Win xp to Server 2008R2 64bits

Hello all, i am new here and struggling to get this transfered.

My current setup was MathCAD 14 on uses workstation with a Floating license install on a Windows XP .

I decided to move this to an official license server running Windows Server 2008R2 64bits. I contacted PTC License management to generate me a new floating license with my new info which they did.

I tried to install the PTC License Server with WildFire 5.0 ( M050) but i am never poped the question to browse to my license file. When the installation completes it only seems to have copied the install files here : C:\Program Files\ptc_custom

The deamon  - lmgrd.exe  are no where to be found.

I presently have LMTools running other licenses on this server so i decided to configure a new one for MathCAD. I open LMTools go under Config Services and createa new one. I copied the old deamon from the other machine ( ptcd_exe ) and used another lmgrd file from another application. All gets created ok but the Windows service one created does not want to stay '' Started '' and closes after 5seconds.

I know this sound like a weird way to get it working but i'm new to this and think should not be that complicated.

Please help ;-)

Piece-wise model with system of equations

Hello, I am trying to develop a piece-wise model. Normally I would just use a matrix with i+1 and i. In this case however there is a system of equations that needs to be solved for each piece. I was using the 'given' and 'find' operators for the system of equations but I can't figure out how to do integrate this process with a step-wise procedure. Please find attached my file. I solved the first few pieces by hand just to illustrate more clearly what I am trying to do. Thanks!
