Dear Folks!

I found the solution to the problem mentioned:

The problem is that MathCad 14 does not work correctly under windows 7 (32 and 64).

The solution:

Install MS Visualstudio 2005 prof edition before installation of MathCad. (I do not know wich components of it helps, but it solved the problem)

I hope it helps for  someones!

Error when installing trial of Prime: "The was no endpoint listening..."

Hello,

Could anybody tell me what this error message means? I'm trying to install a trial version of Mathcad Prime and I'm requested to fill in the account information for the PTC-account right before I get prompted with this:

error.jpg

The account in question is upgraded and connected to the company. The link in the message leads to Reset Your Password (although we can log in with the account, there's nothing wrong with the password).

Thank you in advance!

Solutions comparison / Integration in Excel

Hi everyone,

I'm starting using Mathcad, so maybe I am just missing something. What I want to do seems really basic to me, but I spent hours looking for that and did't find a solution.

The problem is really common in engineering: I have one problem but many different solutions that I want to compare. For instance, choose a material for a structure. The shape is exactly the same, so the calculation sheet for the flexion of the beam would work for all the materials, but I want to make it with different properties such as Young modulus and density, and compare all the results at the same time.

A very similar way would work in Excel, by simply applying the same formula to many different lines of a material list with all properties for instance.

A solution I can see would be to integrate a Mathcad worksheet in Excel as a formula. Isn't it the purpose of Input and Ouput fields in Mathcad? Or I didn't get it...

I can't imagine this isn't a very basic feature of Mathcad, I guess I should be blind

I can provide you with a worksheet if it's not clear enough

Thank you so much to anyone who could help me for that one!

Tristan

Understanding issue

Hi everybody,

Im really struggling with this MathCad worksheet that I have to do!

We have a foreign lecturer and I struggle to understand him!

So if someone could walk me through this that would be very helpful!

I do want to understand it though

I have attached the file below:)

I should note I use MathCad 15:)

thanks in advanced!

Text as a result

I've done a short programblock, where the result asa text is assigned to a variable.

Simplified like that:

text:="Results er ok."

Now is it possible to just show the result of the  variable "text" in the worksheet without showing "text="?

MC 15 mpl_exception

I'm using MC15 m010.  When I run the long program in the attached sheet I wind up with an mpl_exception error message.

None of my co-workers have ever run into an mpl_exception.

This same sheet runs fine using an excel sheet which only utilizes variables with the "1" subscript.  The sheet was expanded to incorporate an additional "2" subscript set of data.  The excel sheet is pretty small, 120KB or so

Is this a memory error?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Prime 3.0 Custom Functions (string arguments)

I have a user function for Mathcad 15 that works great (in Mathcad 15).  I'm attempting to build that .dll for Mathcad Prime 3.0.  After compiling the code (linking the mcaduser.lib that is distributed with Mathcad Prime 3.0), all the custom functions defined in my .dll work fine in Mathcad Prime 3.0, except those which return a string type value.  Any function which returns a string will crash Mathcad Prime 3.0 when the function is called.   Even the most simple test cases, such as the following function:

LRESULT testFunction(LPMCSTRING ParamValue, LPCMCSTRING ParamName)

{

ParamValue->str = "foo";

return 0;

}

will crash Prime 3.0 when invoked in a worksheet.

Anyone else experience this issue?  Thanks for the feedback!

Scott

Pls. see attached PNG file, a screenshot of the page with my question in orange.

The spreadsheet is attached.  The question is on the 2nd to the last page.

TIA.

And now it crashes when I load my file...

I recently migrated from Mathcad 15 to Prime3.

Not only does Prime 3 feel very sluggish, does some UI things funny, mixes huge and tiny fonts (plots), but I'm beginning to think it's as buggy as a Florida summer.  Mathcad 15 was never this buggy nor was it sluggish.  Is it time to look at Maple and Matlab?

It crashes whenever I load the attached file.  Also see the screenshot of the crash message, and the logfile.

<sigh>  If it weren't Friday afternoon I'd be really ******...

How do I do an iterative solve for a variable for 2000 data points contained in Excel?

I want pull data from excel (approx 2000 data points) for P1, then iterate P2 until it equals 5.67, continue until all P2's are found for each P1. This expression cannot be solved for P2.

Function will not converge

Hi,

I am calculating dynamic pressures on a moving gate and cannot get the integral for vertical force Fv(t) to converge. I have tried adjusting the convergence tolerance but this does not seem to make any difference. Any clues would be appreciated.

How to fix instability in List/Combo Box Use?

I am revamping some Mathcad programs created about 6 years ago in Mathcad 14 to Mathcad 15 and there is instability in the List/Combo boxes.  They don't always fail, but when they do the program is unusable.  The error message returned is "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has returned from a call to a COM component."  Is there a new syntex that needs to be applied in Mathcad 15?  THANKS for your help!!!!

Errors in x-axis

Hello,

In Mathcad 15, is it possible to add error bars to the x axis of a plot? I have a data series of 10 x values and 10 y values. The error in y is 0 however there are individual errors in each x values and I am wondering if it is possible to add horizontal error bars.

Any help would be appreciated.

2D plot limit of 500000 points

$

Mathcad's 2D plot has a limit of 5*10^5 points (total of all traces). If you try to plot a single point more the plot usually fails. This limit applys to Mathcad 15(& below) as well as Prime3 (Prime2 has a limit of 5*10^4).

Does anyone know if there is a depper sense for that limit? Probably memory consumption but then we don't have a limit if we create vectors and matrices - it will simply fail with an appropriate error message if it really runs out of memory.

My reason for asking is that I think I found a way to overrule this limit (at least I was not aware that this would be possible) by simply plotting whole vectors one over the other. It looks to me that all verctor elements are plotted even though there may be far more than 5*10^5 points. At least it works for Mathcad 15, haven't tried in Prime. See attached sheet.

Now I am asking if anybody can tell what problems we can ran into using this method

Plotting Point

Hi,

I would like to use MP3 2D plot, like we use to do in the good old days?

I have points

x=(10,0)

Y=(10,20)

and so one r, e, h, etc...

how can I input these point into the plot

and how can I connect these points by lines?

I hope it will not be a complicated procedure:)
