RE: Mathcad Fatal Error

I would appreciate it if anyone has a solution to this problem. I have never had this error before as far as I can recall and I have used Mathcad 15 (student version) for two years with no trouble. I am working on homework (plotting collected data points, nothing challenging here), when Mathcad suffers a fatal error and crashes. It prompts me to save my work but doesn't actually. It also gives me a "Warning", which really is useless at that point since Matlab becomes non-functional. I have included a screenshot.

I rely pretty heavily on mcad so any help would be appreciated.

Volumes of Revolution - Hyperbola

Hi,

 

I'm hoping someone can help me with a question about volumes of revolution of hyperbolas.

 

I have a question asking for the volume of a hyperbola shape (see attached ppt).

 

I understand that I need to re-aarrange in terms of (x^2) and intergrate etc.

 

But I want to know what limits i apply to find the definite integral and what i use the dimensions for.

Opening .xcmd files

Hello,

 

Could anyone please be kind enough to help me solve this simple problem.


I downloaded the free version of PTC mathcad. But, I am unable to open the files ending in .xmcd. These files were created in an older version of mathcad. Not sure which version, but I am unable to open them in the latest PTC mathcad version. Please advise.

Result - units bug?

I attached a file with two types of result: inline and individual.

On inline result, the units are not displayed.

This is a "feature" or a bug?

Defining phase in bode plot

Invalid Host error

Good morning. Sorry in advance about the noise, but...

 

I'm trying to reactivate MathCAD 14 on Win 7 after changing my User Account.

 

PTC reset my password, no help.

 

I start MathCAD, gat an error message "Invalid Host", "the host ID doesn't match the hostID specified in the license file" etc

 

I run the suggested MAthCAD license setup wizard, browse to Program Files/MathCAD 14/license.dat and open it. It says "Congratulations! MathCAD is now set up and ready to run!"

 

But it isn't; when I open MathCAD 14 again, I get the same "Invalid Host" message.

 

Any ideas?

MathCAD Prime 3.0 and API?

Dows anyone ahve any idea when MathCAD Prime 3.0 is  coming out and what features will be vailable.

 

I am desperately wiating for an API to come out for Prime/. MathcAD V15 has a basic one available which is better than the not having one at all. The maatrix funciton was woefully slow when dealign with large matrices to the point of being unusable.

 

When are windows forms features such as drop down boxes and radio buttons going to be deployed to Prime?

WHEN is the poor API Automation performance going to be fixed and When is Prime getting the automation API?

I have revisited the automation API with MathCAD 15 today.

 

I raised this quesiton over 3 years ago, obvioulsy PTC do not think they need to update mathcad 15 or mathcad Prime and see automation as a low hanging fruit.

 

1. The automation API for setting values to a matrix is flawed and useless, and has been for three years now. You cannot set a matrix of any decent size without MathCAD crashing using the automation API. I had a large email trail for this in support three years ago!!!! PTC HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS.

 

2. Prime is on Iteraiton 3. WHERE IS THE AUTOMATION API? The dvelopment of MathCAD Prime is pathetic. A decent API is essential, not only is MathCAD 15 flawed, but there is not even an API at all with Prime. How difficlt is it expose some basic functions in an API? The rate of developemnt of this product is pathetic. Three years after releasing PRIME and still NO automation API. I have given up on MathCAD at this rate. Obvioulsy MAPLE is the ony solution. PTC do not take take this prodcut seriously,

MatchCAD14 won't uninstall or run on my Windows 7

When my PC changed over to Windows 7, MatchCAD14 was installed but I believe that it never really ran. So when I try to uninstall it I get a "Please wait while the Windows configures MatchCAD 14 - Gathering required information" and it gets stuck there about 80% done. After waiting few hours when I hit cancel then it gets stuck on "Cancelling ... Gathering required information..". I have rebooted the machine but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Issues with internal spreadsheets and sketches

I have MathCad 15 installed and when opening existing files any excel spreadsheets or powerpoint sketches within the document are repositioned on pages overlayed on calculation regions - does anyone know a fix without have to drag them to their original positions?

Mathcad 15 slow in M020 and M030

I've been running Mathcad 15 M010 for the past couple years.  I've been a using Mathcad since 1995.  It runs fine with my worksheets with the occasional crash.  I saw there was an update in December to M030 so I installed it yesterday.  It runs extremely slow just opening and calculating a worksheet.  I uninstalled and went back to M010 and it works fine.  M010 will run through the caclulations in about 10-15 seconds whereas M020 or M030 take over 2-3 minutes

 

This is not one particular file.  I tried multiple different projects and it nets the same results.  I use scripting (drop down pick lists) and reference files in all my worksheets.

 

About 6 months ago, I did the same experiment with M020 and M010.  M020 was slow as well.  This was on my other PC with Windows 7 x64.  The recent test was on Windows 8.1 x64. 

 

For now I'm back to M010 in Windows 8.1....no issues with 8.1 except for when I print to adobe PDF, the filename has some Asian characters in the filename.  I attached a screenshot of this issue.  I can live with this.  This didn't occur in W7

 

Any idea what may be causing the slow down between updates?

Mathcad and Autodesk Inventor Integration

Hi

 

I have recently came across the inventor integration in Mathcad 15 from the downloads/add in page. However I am getting a number errors which I believe is due to the fact that this add in is supposed to work with Windows XP? Has anyone attempted or been successful in getting this add in installed on Windows 7? I find it strange that this add in can work with Mathcad 15 with it being a 'relatively' recent release and that XP is no longer a supported Windows OS.

 

I have attached a screenshot which shows the errors that are appearing in the cmd window which I believe are due to the fact that the OS is Windows 7 rather than XP.

 

If this is unfixable or unachievable can anyone tell me of any methods that they may have used to integrate Mathcad and Autodesk Inventor. I am currently looking at using excel as a bridge between the programmes, using tables and bill of materials etc...

 

Any help or support would be greatly appreciated. Just looking for some pointers and experiences from users. I have read and looked across the information available and it appears that Mathcad Prime 4.0 could integrate this but if anyone has any solutions or experiences of this type of thing using Mathcad 15, which is what I use now, or any later Mathcads such as prime 3.0 (as I can purchase or trail a copy).

Noob question: How do I rearrange a large equation?

As a basic example

 

 

{v = u + at

 

Rearrange for a.}

 

 

I literally cant find the answer anywhere on google, youtube, or these forums. Please bear with me if its a simple question, I only got my teeth into the program yesterday. Its the one function I need to speed things up. I don't want to have to do it on paper every couple of minutes.

Orifice Plate - Plotting 3D or Contour Plot

Hello,

 

As the title suggests, I'm looking at trying to plot the flow rate or diameter for an orifice plate for a range of temperatures and pressures.  I'd like to get a contour or 3D plot.  However, whenever I do try the 3D or contour plots, I can't seem to get them to work unless I drop all units before hand and remember as I do the inputs, what my scale is.  When dealing with anything temperature wise, this is rather frustrating.

 

Attached is my worksheet, of which I'm looking to get the plot working for a range of Temps & Pressures.  I'm currently looking at sonic flows, and am wondering to what extent does the temperature and the pressure have an impact on the flow rate that will be produced for a given diameter, or vise versa. I'd also be curious, if say temperature over a range isn't very impactful, the graph of the mass flow rate vs. Pressure and Diameter.  I'm interested in plotting it this way as a jet engine will change its output of T&P, and the mass flow you get out will vary over that range for a given diameter.

 

I can get 2D plots of the data to work out alright, just not the 3D or contour.  I must be missing something either trivial or just not seeing it currently.

 

There are two functions in the sheet, one for calculating the Diameter as a function: D(m,T,P) and the Mass Flow as a function: M(D,T,P).

 

Would it be wiser to attempt some sort of demensional analysis?

I have problems registering mathcad, it is a student licens where i have got a produkt code from the school. buit when i should register "error ptc.setup could not properly detect the host id that is required"  what can i do ?

Pspline or Cspline slope control

Hello,

 

Does anyone know how to control the slope (or end tangency) of a pspline or cspline curve?  I'm using MathCad 15.

 

I want to input definition points (using x and z vectors) to create a spline equation z(x).  The part I'm having problems with is trying to force the spline to have zero slope at the definition points.  I've attached a sheet to help with the explanation.  Any ideas?

 

 

In case this might help, I'm writing the sheet to evaluate a post-tensioned concrete beam with multiple spans.  The function will be used throughout the sheet to define the tendons.

Nyquist Im and Re axis from transfer function

Hi,

 

I am trying to plot nyquist diagram of my transfer function. I dont know what could be wrong. There should be a nice curved diagram, and I get such a mess. Can anyone help please? MathCAD file is attached. Thank you.

MathCAD phase starts from circa -80 instead -270 deg

Hi all,

 

Its me again . I dont know how is it possible but when I make a bode plot in mathCAD phase is starting from different value than it is supposed to. Look into file. The phase should start at -270 like on the diagram from matlab. What could be wrong?
