Prime 2 does not seem to allow you to copy a math region and paste to another application, such as Word. Any Ideas?

Orifice Plate - Plotting 3D or Contour Plot

$

Hello,

As the title suggests, I'm looking at trying to plot the flow rate or diameter for an orifice plate for a range of temperatures and pressures.  I'd like to get a contour or 3D plot.  However, whenever I do try the 3D or contour plots, I can't seem to get them to work unless I drop all units before hand and remember as I do the inputs, what my scale is.  When dealing with anything temperature wise, this is rather frustrating.

Attached is my worksheet, of which I'm looking to get the plot working for a range of Temps & Pressures.  I'm currently looking at sonic flows, and am wondering to what extent does the temperature and the pressure have an impact on the flow rate that will be produced for a given diameter, or vise versa. I'd also be curious, if say temperature over a range isn't very impactful, the graph of the mass flow rate vs. Pressure and Diameter.  I'm interested in plotting it this way as a jet engine will change its output of T&P, and the mass flow you get out will vary over that range for a given diameter.

I can get 2D plots of the data to work out alright, just not the 3D or contour.  I must be missing something either trivial or just not seeing it currently.

There are two functions in the sheet, one for calculating the Diameter as a function: D(m,T,P) and the Mass Flow as a function: M(D,T,P).

Would it be wiser to attempt some sort of demensional analysis?

Workaround for Different First Page Header/Footer Formatting?

I am a new user to PRIME 3.0 and been evaluating it for the purpose of creating templates to standardizing analysis calculations and subsequent documentation. One area I am struggling with is the ability to format the pages for adding technical information markings on each sheet of the template. The header/footer works just fine for the content pages, but is there a way to have a different first page header/footer format?

Issues with Embedded MS Objects (Excel, Powerpoint)

Greetings,

My company uses Mathcad for a lot of our calculations and we've developed some standards over the years.  One of those standards was the use of embedded excel objects to serve as a header/footer for our calculations (I know that there is a built in header/footer, but it lacks Aesthetics, Flexibility, and Convenience).

There is the dilemma: more often than not, especially with Excel 2013, numerous popup windows and excel windows pop up for every embedded excel object in each Mathcad worksheet; VERY ANNOYING!  If there is a solution to this, please tell me.

However, I accepted the fact that there is no 'fix,' so (as an alternative) I developed a header/footer that uses PowerPoint.  This works great (no popup windows or nothing to date), BUT I've noticed that Computers with PowerPoint 2013 installed likes to INCREASE the size of the PowerPoint objects when the file was last saved on a computer with PowerPoint 2010 & Computers with PowerPoint 2010 installed likes to DECREASE the size of the PowerPoint objects when the file was last saved on a computer with PowerPoint 2013.  Is there a way to suppress this resize? Note that unchecking “Allow Object to Resize Itself" has no influence on this behavior.

============= SUMMARY: =============

1) Is it possible to Suppress Excel Windows From opening for Every Embedded Excel object?

2) Is it possible to suppress the 'resize' of an embedded PowerPoint object between computers w/ PowerPoint 2010 & 2013 installed?

3) If there is no solution for (1) or (2), is there another object that could be embedded to act as a header/footer? (msFlexTable doesn't work, InputTable lacks aesthetics and manipulation, Mathcad Matrixes lacks aesthetics and manipulation)

4) On a side note, is it possible to program the locations of embedded objects/regions?  I am familiar with the "x" and "y" properties of a region located in a Mathcad worksheet, but these properties are read-only, correct?  How would one proceed to automate moving a 'region' to a specific location (in vbscript)?

====================================

(NOTE: I have tried embedding a Mathcad object and that works fine for manipulation, but the aesthetics are poor and the runtime is too long.)

Thank you,

Mathcad express or 2001i

I studied maths at uni many years ago and each student was given a copy of Mathcad 2001i.

That cd is buried somewhere in the loft! and will take a bit of time to dig out.

My question is... how does 2001i compare to the free, express version that I can download from ptc.com?

Is it worth digging around upstairs for my old, paid for version?

I doubt I will use all the features of either but I did notice that the new paid for version works in conjunction with excel, whereas express doesnt. That feature may prove useful but I dont know if 2001i support it.

I run Windows 8.1... will 2001i even work?

Thanks

Rik

I have two floating licenses of mathcad 15.0.

But, somehow I am able to use only one license at a time.

Do anyone have any suggestion on this???

How do I force Mathcad Prime 3 to recalculate worksheet using command line or maybe some document property?

I've installed a DLL with custom functions and it appears undefined to worksheet until I recalculate.

For example, Mathcad was compaining what CustomFunctions variable is undefined even when I managed to install DLL properly, only when I did Ctrl+F5 CustomFunctions reflected the actual state of things. And if I close Mathcad and deinstall DLL, opening the same document will prentend it is still there (again, old infromation shown until recalculated)

Is there a way to have Mathcad to not cache previous data and recalculate whole document on open?

Why the derivation calculation can't be done in the function block?

Attached pls find my mathcad worksheet. In this worksheet, I define a function Vout. First I calculate the R1 derivative of the function (step 1), it works. Then I use a function block to do the sensitivity analysis of R1 for the function Vout (step 2), but it report that "Can't calculate the expression". Why the step 1 can work, but step 2 can't?

Thanks,

Simon

Hello there, I`m new to MathCad and a have a question

I have X=10 at s=4 and X=15 at s=7 . I want to draw a line which go from point X=10 to X=15. I dont know if you understand me.

You can look at the picture for a better understanding. I know it sounds simple but I don`t seem to figure it out.

Good Morning Community,

Attached is a working copy the community was helping to resolve on previous post. In the attached file, I'm trying to substutite a matrix S_sub_p into an equation lamda, that yield a matrix and then subtitute lamda into alpha_sub_V to generate pile interaction. Previously I posted the PDF copy of the example was working on. Please help me to see what I'm doing wrong.

Arrays

Hello to everyone...

I am trying to learn how mathcad uses arrays. I am looking at mathcad v.15's quicksheet example.

Here is an excerpt that I don't understand at all.

I am trying to create something similar myself......something simple, such as a variable with two colums and one row, but I am unable to reproduce that  following the example mathcad provides. I have looked over all the help and quicksheets, but mathcad gleans over too much and doesn't come right out and specify how it is creating this kind of array --- with the braces "{a,b}" elements in the above "M" array....or matrix.

Can someone shed some light on this please? I am stuck and out of ideas on my own.

Thank you!

Attached is my MathCad Prime 3 worksheet. The ODE solve block is not producing an answer can someone look at this example and explain to me why or how? Maybe I have not specified h(t) correctly but all plots seem OK!

Thanking you in advance,

Pdesolve- "Cannot understand this syntax"

I've started up a worksheet for a project, and I'm having difficulty with a few things.  First of all, my pdesolve isn't wanting to solve my pde.  It is near the bottom of the page, I've tried solving just one of them for this case.  Is there a way to solve them all at the same time?

Also, I'm trying to get my summation equations for x.F and x.P to equal 1, so that they can solve for the missing components.  But it won't seem to solve for the last one even if I have all the other components specified.  Any tips for this?

Thank you in advance!

Making a piecewise function using a program structure

I am trying to join two flow regimes (weir flow and orifice flow) into one continuous vector / function. For some reason its giving me an error and I not sure why. You will see that I designed a similar structure (see first program block) which also contains if statements i.e.comparing each array element in turn at least I think that is what it is doing?  I believe all the units are correct for taking into the second programming block, so why dosn't the program structure return a array of values. Also is there a way to avoid having to vectorizing the result from a program block output i.e. placing the forward arrow above the result. I must admit I am not sure why I have to from a mathematical perspective but it seems to work. My main concern however is programming block 2.

Thanking you in advance.

Christoffel symbols and symbolic variables

$

Quite some time ago, I did some work with symbolics that led mt to try to create Christoffel symbols in Mathcad. (I can do it in Mathematica, though I am not very good with it, and I can do it in MATLAB, using MATLAB symbolics, but it is not very clean, and certainly not very readable.) I gave it several shots in M15, and have attached the results.

The pieces seem to work, but not the aggregate...should I just do it in Mathematica instead of beating myself up here? Part of the problem here seems to be that symbolics are not handled as well as in Mathematica and MATLAB, at least as far as initial declarations go. I tried simply not declaring t,r,theta, phi, and living with the undeclared complaint, but no joy there either.

I registered here just to suggest a several new things in your mathcad, I'm sorry if i wrote in not a right place.

Well. It will be great to have a function to underline and\or to add a "star" or\and a dot above only the complex numbers. Без имени-1.jpg

And the second thing is to make the ability to change the font in the textbox between the normal one and the font of formula.
