Numeric display of plotted points - XY plot in Mathcad Prime 3.0
I was wondering if there is a way for seeing a readout of coordinates of the specific points that make up a trace in an XY plot.
In Mathcad 15 it was possible to right click on a graph and select Trace which displayed the x and y co-ordinates of the nearest point when you clicked on the graph near a point. Is there a way to do this in Prime?
MC15 Plot with multiple variables draws a line from the end of one curve to the start of the next
Hello all,
Question much easier asked with an example:
It is drawing a line from the end of one plot to the start of the next.
Is there a way to stop this? I can change plot type from line to points, but then I need to make my step size very small and the plot does not look as pretty. Also my CPU is lacking in the grunt department, trying to keep the MathCAD hour glass to minimum
"The Code"
I recently saw a video called "The Code". In one segment a man was in a darkened room with a very light air current flowing up from the floor. He was using a little kids toy to blow soap bubbles and had great ability to capture those bubbles intact. He could attach two bubbles together and then three, six and even ten! After the bubbles were joined he was somehow able to use some kind of needle point straw to inject a colored dye into the geometric shape formed in the center (the trigonal pyramid, the cube and even a dodecahedron.) After wasting nearly 20 dollars on bubble toys I decided instead to turn to Mathcad. Am wondering if such a picture can be generated highlighting the shapes formed by intersecting spheres.

can you help answering the question using MATHCAD 15 in the attached photo
Integrate excel table with Mathcad and inserting Pictures
Hi, I need an advice with my problem... I make a static design of steel beam..and I want to read parameters(like A,Iy,Iz etc..) of steel cross section like HEA,HEB,IPE and others EN steel profiles from my excel table..I did it with READEXCEL argument but I think it is too complicate for me to make cca 2000 arguments ( *LOOK ATTACHED MATHCAD FILE) , because I have around 2000 steel profiles. I am looking for advice how to do it easier. And It is possible to show parameters for choosed profile in Table not in Matrix? I want to results look like table with 2 columns and x rows... in first column will be name of parameter like A,Iy,Iz, etc. and in second column will be value of those parametes, which will change depend on chosen Steel profile..
My next problem is how to insert jpg. picture like matrix to mathcad??...
Thanks for answers
what about mathcad 15
Why does the Mathcad blog says that Mathcad Prime 3.1 is now available?
Why does the Mathcad blog say that Mathcad Prime 3.1 is now available and gives a link to a demo video of it but neither downloads exist?
I have looked in the software download section of my subscription and it still shows Mathcad Prime 3.0 and the demo vides have no reference to Mathcad Prime 3.1. So it looks obvious that all will have paid maintenance for nothing. We don't even know how MC Prime 3.1 will benefit the average Mathcad user. My suspicion is not at all?

Tutorial
All
I am happy to announce there is now a tutorial demonstrating how to push and pull parameters from PTC Creo Parametric to PTC Mathcad through the use of Input/Output tagging in PTC Mathcad and the Relations table in PTC Creo Parametric.
Enjoy!
Can Mathcad work on simple 2 dimesion matrix calucation, such as import/export *.txt file, and basic matrix caculation? I can not find it in guide?
I like mathcad interface. I want to move some simple matrix calculation from Matlab to Mathcad?
Does mathcad have these kind of fuction?
Thank you!
READWAV bit resolution: is 32 bit supported?
Hi everyone
I am experiencing for the first time with WAV-Files reading and postprocessing in MathCAD (15.0). I am using as base for myy first tests the Quicksheet: "WAV Files, Spectrograms, and Signal Generation", only the file reading and spectrum plotting part of it.
I just want to ask if I am right in the assuption, that only 8 and 16 bit resolutions are supported. Because when I try to read a 32 bit WAV file, perfectly playable and correctly interpreted by GETWAVINFO, I get an errror message "this file contains bad information".
A collateral question would be: is there a simple way to compute the signal to noise ratio of a given audio-recording? Or some other indication of the quality of the recording? Unfortunately I am no expert of audio-processing, but I do need to get some kind of spectral analysis on the WAV file.
Thanks a lot in advance

Claudio
Improved Find and Replace Comment
There is a request at Improve find and replace to be able to replace, say, TestVersion01 with TestVersion02 in Mathcad Prime. This capability exists in Mathcad 15. Simply type Test.Version01 in the Find box and Test.Version02 in the Replace box.
(unfortunately, I can't comment on the original idea as I'm not on a maintenance contract).

Matrix results in to excel - help!
I am wanting to produce a large data table in excel that gives me results based upon formula using 2 nested vectors (I hope I have my terminology correct).
Q1: In my simple attached example I am firstly confused why this displays 1 x 9 and not 3 x 3?
Q2: Nevertheless I have created an excel component in mathcad to display the results and typed the individual input variable and assigned it a cell reference. This is OK when I have only a 3 x 3 matrix but if this is say 40 x 15 this is isn't realistic.
Is there a more elegant way I can do this for a large data set? My ultimate objective is to copy and paste a 40 x 15 data set in to a WORD document.
New release of Mathcad Prime 3.1
Hello,
Today there was a new release of Mathcad Prime 3.1. And here is a list of major new features:
- Application Programming Interface (API): You can use PTC Mathcad Prime 3.1 to create integrations with third-party tools and to automate processes.
- Connectivity with Third-Party Tools: Use a selection of PTC written custom functions to integrate with external tools.
- Engineering Notebook Powered by PTC Mathcad: For PTC Creo Parametric 3.0 M030 and later, you can embed a PTC Mathcad worksheet directly within a PTC Creo Parametricpart or assembly. Share data between the embedded PTC Mathcad worksheet and the PTC Creo Parametric model to drivegeometry from PTC Mathcad to PTC Creo Parametric or to analyze PTC Creo Parametric parameters in PTC Mathcad.
- Handling Large Sets of Data: For 64-bit architectures, data set sizes are no longer limited to a 2 gigabyte (GB) ceiling.
- Windows 8.1 Support: PTC Mathcad Prime 3.1 supports the Windows 8.1 operating system.
OS Windows support:

Automatically Replace a Derivative in an Equation with a Function?
It appears that it is not possible to find a derivative-operator in an equation and replace all instances of it with a function.
You cannot paste the derivative-operator into the Find-field of the Replace-Window.
Is there a trick?
Define a MathCAD document as a function
Hi,
I have a Mathcad document that calculates a single value based on two input values. In between, there are a handful of constants defined, some preliminary calculations, 2 solve blocks and a couple of simple equations at the end. Its working great, but I need to do this calculation over and over again with different input values.
I know you can define a solve block as a function, but is it possible to define an entire document as a function? If not, is there a way to bunch up a load of equations and 2 solve blocks into a single function?
Many thanks!
Oliver
MathCAD 15.0 Not Formatting Correctly
I recently put MathCAD 15.0 on my laptop. When I go to open MathCAD files created from my other computer (files created with MathCAD 15.0), the imported objects such as an excel header/footer are shrunk and the embedded autocad images are scattered. Even the right boundary page line seems out of place. In other words when I go to open the Mathcad files on my laptop, the display is different than what I'm getting on my other computer. The display on my laptop is not right. It's frustrating b/c I have many Mathcad files/templates created and they don't appear correct on my laptop. I could try re-sizing everything to fit nicely on my laptop screen, but that would take hours if not days to update all my files. Any ideas? I'm not at all a computer wiz, so I'm needing some help. Does this have anything to do with Adobe reader?
Thanks

Units of the vertical axis(frequency) in a fft-based-spectrogram
Hi everyone,
I need help for a really simple question, I bellieve, concerning the units in a spectrogram, that in turn comes from a fft function. I refer to the example to be found in QuickSheets "WAV-Files, Spectrograms and Signal Generation" (under Engineering Applications). Since I am not very confident with signal analysis, I have always problem to interpret the units in the frequency axis of an fft. In this example Quicksheet (also attached), the frequency axis is vertical as usual for spectrograms. But how can I know which frequency corresponds to the index of the plot?
For example: here I have 256 samples and the rows of "spectra" are 129. How do I convert this 129 in Hz? Which frequencies dominate in the signal in the first two seconds?
Here under I have now, as a test, only the half of the samples (128). The index is now 65. How do I convert this 65 in a frequency in Hz?
I can see that there is a proportionality, and that it must depend on the sampling rate and maybe on the total number of time points (also known), but I am unsure how to write a formula. As I said, it must be simple enough, but my background is more in the direction of structural mechanics!
Thanks a lot for any hint!
Regards
Claudio
Why isn't MC Prime 3.1 upgrade available for download?
Does any one know how to access an upgrade download for Mathcad Prime 3.1? My subscription download portal is still showing only MC Prime 3.0. Is there some special things that I have to do to refresh the portal so that MC Prime 3.1 becomes available in the download list or is it only available to new customers?
I would appreciate a response from anyone that has got thEire hands on the upgrade because PTC doesn't seem to care to respond In any way to my query. I suppose that happens when a company grow to big on the backs of their users to care.
