I am starting to convert calculations from MC15 to MCP (only version 2 at the moment).

One of the (many) problems that I have encountered is transferring data currently stored in an array & would like to re-format this as a table (attached is an example that I have started).

 

1. is there any way to programmatically do the transfer?
   
   
2. Once the table is created, how easy is it to edit?
   
   I have tried copy & paste by row but it didn't seem to work for me. Am I missing a trick some where?

 

It could be a help if I want to re-order the data , Absolute nightmare is each element has to be copied separately.

I just update Win 10 to the latest windows update and find that with the display set to 125% the launch of Mathcad 15 has issues.  The toolbars when expanded to be used as tables do not move as expected.  If I want to relocate say the Greek toolbar display to the right of my project the window is skewed to the the desired location.  This started right after the new 'push' from Microsoft for Win 10 Pro.  I tried updating the video dravier for the laptop, which updated, but did not cure the problem (latest driver was dated in August 2015). Any ideas for a solution???

Is there a way to improve the calculation efficiency in this case?

Hi, everyone,

 

I am trying to use Duhamel Integral to calculate a continuous bar axial vibration response,

 

Below is my process:

I only used the eta1(t) part and the first phi*eta1(t) (add from i=0 to 0)

But it takes 5mins for Mathcad to finish the calculation of this simple case. 

Is there a way to improve the calculation efficiency?

Before this, I also tried to create a matrix with 100 points for u1, and plot the matrix,

but the time for the final calculation is also very long.

 

Given this is only a simple case, adding from 0 to 0, I am afraid that it takes forever to finish the accumulation of more phi*eta.

 

I propose that the problem of this low efficiency is with the Duhamel integral,

Is there a way to improve it?

Hi, guys,

 

As below shows, when I tried to perform a Duhamel Integral in Mathcad,

If I manually copy and paste P1(tao) into D2(t), Mathcad will integrate successfully, as shown in the 2nd D2(t)

 

However, when I used P1(tao) in the integral, the integration is not successful, as shown in the 1st D2(t), where the result expression has tao inside that is not supposed to be there.

 

Could someone help me explain why?

Hi..

 

I have created one design in mathcad which having some inputs from creo and one output from mathcad.

So when i am going to do integration some times it gives me the error "Cannot read outputs from Prime worksheet" which i am not able to get the exact reason.

 

Please can some one help me to understand, so i can take precaution while doing integration.

Good Morning Community,

 

I have having a hiccup here with a file I have put a substantial bit of work into.  The file has been working fine for weeks including this morning however now I am getting an error listed:

 

The file type is not supported.

Log is located at

C:\ProgramData\PTC\Matchcad Prime\Logs\MathcadPrime_Exception_20151208_095225.log

 

Can anyone please assist me in recovering this file?  I have a backup saved from yesterday but I'd hate to reverse almost a full man day of work!

Hello,

 

I'm trying to get my first equation in Mathcad to work right.

 

What we need to accomplish in this school project is fabrication of a (virtual) scale. More precisely writing a proper equation which would define the correlation between the weight of the letter/package placed on the scale, and the angle movement of the needle. It is hard to get it right algebraically when I'm not sure of how Mathcad reads the input.

 

Can I request some help with the syntax of the equation?

I have several problems with Prime 3.1:

- Plots are not drawn for some parameter values. The same functions and parameters in Mathcad 15 work fine.

- Number with ticks almost always overlap, making them unreadable.

- I cannot use two Y-axes. This is needed to get appropriate scales and avoid very high and narrow plots.

- I cannot add a caption to the Y-axis or move the legend to the left side of the graph. This means the graphs can never be used in publications.

- I cannot turn off the units.

 

Does anybody have a solution for these problems?

Is there a way of defining the number of matrix rows and columns just by say setting up a function? i.e. if I want a 5x5 matrix I can just type 5 and 5 in two functions and the matrix will auto generate

Hello everyone!

I'm still struggling with with my problem. Let's say, I have to solve this. I need at least 7-8 first solutions of this equation. I could use given/find, but I would like to change parameter Bi in the future and then I would have to change guess values as well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I was trying this method (there's different Bi, that's why soultions don't match the first photo), but I'm not sure, if I can get anywhere with it.

I bought a textbook that came with an unused CD of Mathcad 15 M010; never used MathCad but it seemed interesting. Tried installing it on my Windows 10 laptop; it told me I was running Windows XP. Followed directions found here to fix that; it apparently installed correctly and took the product code,, so I assume I have a license. However when I try to launch the program nothing happens. Things I've tried so far:

 

1) run as an administrator

2) run in Windows 7 compatibility mode

3) uninstall and reinstall

 

The only thing that has any effect at all is running in administrator mode, which gives me a splash screen that says "Do you want this software from an unknown publisher to make changes on your computer?" but nothing further happens after that. This isn't a desperate situation; I'm not trying to use the software for work or school, but I wouldn't mid it if it would work.

A while back, I did a post on what software my students wanted to use in a graduate class on technical math.  They unanimously chose MATLAB over Mathcad because they perceived (correctly, I think) that MATLAB is pretty much the standard for technical computing.  I warned them that there was definitely a learning curve, but that MATLAB is extremely powerful.  At the time, they primarily valued the universality of MATLAB and weren't worried about ease of use.

 

Fast forward to the last exam of the semester.  I wrote the exam solution using Mathcad and it was a very simple task, but they tried to work the exam in MATLAB (it was a take home exam).  I inadvertently wrote a couple problems that were easy to solve in Mathcad, but very hard to program in MATLAB.  By the end of the week, they were in my office asking if it was alright to use Mathcad.  Basically, the ease of use won them over.  Good news, indeed.

 

I'm finding that the biggest practical barrier to using Mathcad in the classroom is that the free download doesn't last for a semester (four months).  I know the reduced capability version runs forever and that there is also a student version, but it it's difficult to get students to buy it.  A typical book now costs between $250 and $300 and they are becoming hesitant to buy class materials.  One of my students told me that he was trying to limit his student loans and hesitated to buy any book that costs more than $50.  I'm not sure how you make tha business model work.

I am trying to use rnorm to create a vector of random numbers.

 

The vector should have (density) units of lb/ft^3.  For some reason when I attempt to give the sigma and mu values units of lb/ft^3, the numbers come out incorrect and without the desired units.  Where should I look to fix this?
