Exporting data from Mathcad to Excel

Hey guys,

I have a mathcad program that solves differential equations. In the past I have created an array of all the data I wanted to export and just copied the array into Excel. This time, however, it doesn't work.

I need to export and from Mathcad 15 to compare it to the data from excel. Can someone show me a way I can either inport to excel or have excel inport to mathcad? I have attached the file with the data I need exported.

Thank you!

memory and handling of large data sets M15 vs Prime

Hi all,

I have had problems with M15 handling large amounts of data.  When I say large I mean say 1000 x 40,000 or at least in that order.  (I'm using MC to process segments of wav audio files).  I wouldn't mind so much having limitations but it's the way M15 deals with things when it runs out of memory i.e. it seems very inconsistent; one minute saying there's no memory but if I restart it manages OK.  Somethimes it just crashes.  It doesn't seem to be handling things very well when it hits the end stops and it gives you no idea how close to the limits you are and where the memory is used up.

I converted my file to Prime and opened it and it seems better at least insofar as it appears able to handle larger amounts of data e.g. 1000 x 160000 or maybe more (I haven't tested the limits).

Does anyone else have any experience with this and is it true that Prime is better in this regard (even though there are other serious limitations with Prime)?

So it's a conundrum - do I use MC15 or Prime - I guess that's for me to decide but it appears that I may have to use both for different applications, which is a real pain in the posterior.

Need help, just learning how to use the software at work.

I am trying to set all multiplication symbols in equations as x, and then when there is an answer it doesnt show the x between the number and the units. it this possible w/o switching each individual answer?

Also is there a way to get MathCAD to display more decimals without the flot function, this does not look professional in a document.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Simple Vector Question

Hi, All --

I have what I fear is a too-simple question. For some reason, I am having a real mental block figuring it out, though. Say I have some vector in R3 (x, y, z). I would like to find a vector orthogonal to this one. The obvious solution is (1/x, 1/y, -2/z). However, this blows up if one or more of the components of the original vector is zero (i.e., if the vector lies in a plane defined by the global coordinate system).

We have a way to handle this is an ad hoc fashion (if statements), but it seems to me that there should be some slick linear algebra that we could emply to solve this problem in a more elegant way, but it currently escapes me.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I have installed Mathcad 15 on many Win7 64bit machines before with no problems. We just got 4 new computers and the install bombs out at 50% with "tabler.ocx failed to register HRESULT -2147010895". I am out of ideas any body know what to try next.

Plotting Point

Hi,

I would like to use MP3 2D plot, like we use to do in the good old days?

I have points

x=(10,0)

Y=(10,20)

and so one r, e, h, etc...

how can I input these point into the plot

and how can I connect these points by lines?

I hope it will not be a complicated procedure:)

Just like the pic below:

When I substitute the answer into the function, it give a different result but likely the true answer.

Re: Various documents posted by PTC staff

Isn't it a sad thing how PTC is now recycling a couple of old Mathcad E-books? Without the ability of hyperlinks to hold together associated parts which belong together and without the ability to easily access those files from within Mathcad as we were used to.

It also seems that PTC staff is not aware of how many features are missing in Prime compared to Mathcad. Or can somebody explain how to follow the instructions given in one of the sheet (see screenshot below, but we don't have static symbolics in Prime). You will find a lot of that kind of descrepany and idiosyncrasy in those sheets.

Why not just wait until Prime is at least at the level of Mathcad and convert the old sheets then?

Also the place and way to present those sheets as postings in a forum is a bit strange and sure inappropriate. Static content doesn't fit a dynamic medium, even if a table of content is updated with every post and anchored as "Featured Documents".

Electronic boards design: assessment of the component tolerances

I'm using Mathcad prime 2.0 (express version) but the question can be solved using premium version.
I would use Matcad to study the effect of the tolerance of the components I choose on the electronic circuits that I projected:
suppose, for example, you have a resistive divider formed by R1 and R2 powered from Vcc ..
we know that the voltage of R2 is:
f(Vcc, R1, R2): = (Vcc / (R1 + R2)) * R2

I want to ask Matcad which values (maximum and minimum) can f() assume if
R1 has a nominal value of 1000, with a tolerance of 1% (therefore can have a value from 990 to 1010)
R2 has a nominal value of 2000, with a tolerance of 1% (therefore can have a value from 1980 to 2020)
The right way would be to use the function minimize () but I can not figure out how to properly set up the command

New problem with a catenary – a specific pendulum

Newproblemofthecatenary – a specific pendulum.

We loaded our catenary with weight and looked like changing its form – see please here http://communities.ptc.com/videos/4438. If the weight is too heavy, then either Mathcad not be able to solve a system of equations or a catenary... breaks and we have two parts as a… pendulum. I tried to simulate the swing of this pendulum-chain with five units - see please http://communities.ptc.com/videos/4448

The problem we have is not a chain, and a weighty chain is flexible, which we rejected from the vertical to the desired form (with what desired form?). And released. How to simulate the swing of this pendulum-chain? Is there a symbolic solution of this problem. There is solution is for the ordinary pendulum.

Hi All,

could you please help me with the calculations i want to do in mathcad as per the attached pdf?

I have to plot 3 2D graphs ( as mentioned in the pdf, where A (area) = pi * r(square), r = 31.2mm

& n = l/r (where l = 60mm)

Please help

Matlab component in Mathcad

Hi,

I have a Mathcad worksheet that requires the Jacobi elliptical function Sn (u, m).  Mathcad doesn't have this function built in so I'm trying to insert a Matlab component to solve this and call the results back into Matchcad.

The two input variables are of the form a(b) so my questions are:

1) Do I need to convert this in Matlab code in the Matlab script editor or am I OK just using in0 and in1 to call the data?

2) How do I get the processed data back into Mathcad?

Many thanks for any help.

Product Idea: Ability to display a Summary page at top of worksheet

Mathcad is increasingly used to produce Stress Summary sheets.  There is a requirement for these Stress Summaries to include an 'Executive Summary' section which shows, essentially, the results.  Therefore, it would be essential for Mathcad to have the ability to display 'results' from the bottom of the worksheet, at the top; I am currently having to bend Mathcad to my needs with the use of macros and buttons etc.

simple divide error

i'm doing something wrong. please help.

1. i assign values to variables "C2" & "fc"

2. i multiply the variables * 2 pi and assign the expression to another variable "test". expression value is correct. in this case is 0.022.

3. i try to divide 1/test and get 46.125. wrong answer

     i tried parenthesis around expression = 46.125

     i tried inverse test^-1 = 46.125

4. if i just type 1/.022 = 45.455. right answer.

is there a tolerance i need to set? CTOL and TOL don't fix it.

is there syntax i'm missing?

this is part of a much larger constraints i'm trying to solve. 2 equations 2 unknowns. when i use the expression i get no solution. when i type the value of the expression the solver gets pretty close to the correct solutions.
